Märt Helmja and Neil Mathieson join Aalto Capital in Germany

The pan-European investment banking firm Aalto Capital is strengthening its consultant team with the addition of Märt Helmja and Neil Mathieson. The two experienced Capital Markets and Fintech specialists will primarily strengthen the Debt Advisory and Capital Markets desk as Partners.

Märt Helmja and Neil Mathieson have been organizationally assigned to the Munich office. Based in Tallinn, they are primarily responsible for representing and strengthening the presence of the group in Estonia. The addition of two experienced DCM professionals significantly expands Aalto Capital's presence in the Baltic States, following the appointment of Jonas Jokstys as Partner in Vilnius in 2019. Aalto Capital has undertaken a range of fundraising and advisory transactions in the region and will be able to offer an even better service to clients.

Märt Helmja has been working successfully in the financial sector for more than 13 years. Before joining Aalto Capital, Märt worked for several banks and Fintech companies. Among others, he was Head of Sales for Fundwise and a partner at Key Capital, which serves a large number of European financial institutions, governments, IT companies and multinational corporations. He has been responsible for serving business and corporate clients at Swedbank and Citadele Bank. Before that worked at the capital markets division of SEB. In addition, Märt has public sector experience from Enterprise Estonia where he managed the foreign direct investment (FDI) unit.

Neil Mathieson has 15 years consulting experience in the fields of financial strategy, FinTech and digital transformation. Besides his assignment in Aalto Capital, Neil is CEO of the consulting company Key Capital which serves multiple clients across Europe. Furthermore, Neil has more than 10 years global capital markets experience with a focus on debt financing, derivatives and liquidity management for SMEs and multinational companies, at ABN AMRO and Royal Bank of Scotland.
