SINGAPORE/ ACCESSWIRE / August 18, 2021 / Tech investor Darren Yaw said in an official announcement today that his Singapore-based venture firm Guardian Capital will make a sizable investment into gaming and esports company GCG Asia Games.

"Guardian Capital is pleased to announce our investment into this exciting company as we believe they have a bright future ahead. We're bullish on the prospects and confident that the leadership team can deliver on this promise. We look forward to this partnership," said Darren Yaw.

GCG Asia Games founder and CEO, Phillip Chow, said, "GCG Asia Games is thrilled to receive this vote of confidence from Darren Yaw and Guardian Capital in our abilities as a company. We believe Asia will lead the way in this billion dollar industry and we are perfectly positioned to perform. This is a proud achievement."

The investment comes on the heels of GCG Asia's esports team SCAM climb from top 100 to top 35 in the world in League of Legends. Total prize earnings have also climbed. They compete in League of Legends and other competitive games. Aside from League of Legends, the GCG Asia SCAM team is the unrivaled champion in CS:GO, Dota 2, and Valiant.

This is a team handled by experienced and passionate ex-players. GCG Asia Games founder and CEO Phillip Chow says, "When you choose to partner with the GCG Asia SCAM team based on the attributes that we have delivered above, you are going to achieve the best results that will deliver all the excitement without borders that you are entitled to in the gaming sector. This team is a legit Asian powerhouse that a credible investor like Darren Yaw is willing to put money behind," he added.

Darren Yaw explained that the firm is also seriously looking at Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines for further opportunities to invest in the booming e-sports and gaming sector. The firm has sizeable investments all across South East Asia and co-managed by Darren Yaw's wife Jamie Liu who serves as CFO.

"Overall, Southeast Asia is a market to keep an eye on for any gaming company, and investors like us. It's no surprise that so many of the world's top gaming firms are venturing into Southeast Asia, given the region's hunger for mobile, esports, and game-streaming engagement," said Darren Yaw, founder of Guardian Capital venture firm.

The perfect combination of co-founder Anita Loh (herself an esports ex-player) with Phillip Chow has put GCG Asia's SCAM team on the leaderboard with e-sports teams in Malaysia, and they can hold their own in the community of competitive gaming all over the world. To date, the team has played in tournaments in Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, and beyond.

"We've seen interest grow from brands and businesses has risen, especially because conventional sports advertising was affected by the COVID-19 epidemic," explained Darren Yaw of Guardian Capital. "Brands and businesses are constantly seeking for new and inventive methods to engage their current and future customers," Darren Yaw who also noted the large and growing ecosystem.

"There are publishers, also internet streaming providers, hardware providers, and accessory providers. There are ample opportunities for investors who want to be on the forefront of this incredible growth industry," said Darren Yaw.

The exploits of the GCG Asia started in the playing days of Phillip Chow about 11 years ago in 2010. After retirement in 2012, he shifted his attention to the tougher challenge of the business management of sport. His efforts have made his team the brightest and toughest in the whole of Southeast Asia.

Darren Yaw remarked that the facilities and elite members associated with SCAM are the reason why they are ahead of the pack. Darren Yaw mentioned that team SCAM is not taking a break but is working hard to conquer even more tournaments in 2021 and beyond.
