Der Hyundai-Konzern mit den beiden Marken Hyundai und KIA gehört mit 7,12 Millionen im vergangenen Jahr verkauften Fahrzeugen zu den größten Automobilherstellern der Welt. Mit dem 'Equus' hat Hyundai auch eine Premium-Marke in der breiten Angebotspalette, die allerdings auf deutschen Straßen bislang noch nicht zu sehen war. Den ersten 'Equus' präsentierte Jung Kook Bae, Präsident Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH, am 28. Januar vor dem Bremer Rathaus und übergab ihn anschließend an die BLG, die das Fahrzeug in ihren Fuhrpark aufnimmt. Die elegante Oberklassen-Limousine aus Korea ist komplett ausgestattet. Eine Markteinführung in Deutschland ist jedoch zurzeit nicht geplant.

Schon seit dem Start von Hyundai auf den europäischen Märkten nutzen die Koreaner die Automobillogistik der BLG. 1991 wurde in Neckarsulm die Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH gegründet. Damals war Hyundai auch der erste koreanische Automobilhersteller auf der Internationalen Automobil-Ausstellung in Frankfurt. 1992, dem ersten vollen Geschäftsjahr, wurden rund 28.000 Neuzulassungen registriert. 1993 waren es bereits über 33.000. Im Zuge der erfolgreichen Entwicklung übernahm Hyundai den zweiten Hersteller KIA und baute auch zunehmend eigene Produktionsstätten in Europa auf, darunter in der Slowakei und in Tschechien. Diese Werke bauen aber nicht nur Fahrzeuge für die osteuropäischen Märkte, sondern beliefern auch Westeuropa.

Während die BLG in der Anfangszeit nur die Importfahrtzeuge aus Korea am Autoterminal Bremerhaven von den Autoschiffen entlud, technisch aufbereitete und für die Verteilung an die Autohändler sorgte, nutzen Hyundai und KIA heute das europäische Transportnetzwerk der BLG. 2012 wurden insgesamt 563.000 Fahrzeuge der beiden Marken umgeschlagen, kontrolliert, technisch bearbeitet, transportiert und an die Autohändler verteilt. Dabei gelangen die Autos aus der Slowakei und aus Tschechien über den BLG-Autoterminal in Kelheim an der Donau zu den Händlern in Deutschland. Hyundai/Kia hat sich innerhalb weniger Jahre zum größten, nicht deutschen Kunden der BLG-Automobillogistik entwickelt.

Der BLG-Geschäftsbereich Automobillogistik verzeichnete auch 2012 wieder ein deutliches Wachstum. Die Zahl der im Terminal- und Transportnetzwerk bewegten Fahrzeuge stieg von 6,5 Millionen (2011) auf über sieben Millionen an. Der größte Standort im Terminal-Netzwerk und gleichzeitig der größte Autohafen Europas ist Bremerhaven mit 2,15 Millionen Fahrzeugen im vergangenen Jahr.

Hyundai’s president presents first “Equus” to BLG 01.30.13

Based on 7.12 million vehicles sold last year, the Hyundai Group with its two brands Hyundai and KIA numbers among the biggest automakers in the world. In the 'Equus' Hyundai also has a premium brand in its broad product range, though it has not been seen on German roads as yet. Jung Kook Bae, President of Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH, presented the first 'Equus' in front of the Bremen Town Hall on January 28 and then handed it over to BLG, which will include the car in its fleet of vehicles. The elegant top-of-the-line limousine from Korea is completely equipped. Introduction on the market in Germany is currently not planned yet, however.

The Koreans have been using BLG’s automobile logistics services since Hyundai’s launch on the European markets. Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH was established in Neckarsulm in 1991. At that time Hyundai was the first Korean carmaker at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Around 28,000 new cars were registered in 1992, the first full financial year. In 1993 the figure had already risen to over 33,000. In the course of its successful development, Hyundai took over the second manufacturer, KIA, and also increasingly set up its own production plants in Europe, including in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. These plants not only build vehicles for the East European markets, however, but also supply Western Europe.

While BLG was initially only responsible for unloading the imported vehicles from Korea from the car carriers at the Bremerhaven Auto Terminal, performing technical preparation work and providing for distribution to the car dealers, Hyundai and KIA now make use of BLG’s European transport network. In 2012 563,000 vehicles of the two makes were handled, inspected, technically prepared, transported and distributed to the car dealers. The automobiles from Slovakia and the Czech Republic reach the dealers in Germany via the BLG automobile terminal in Kelheim on the Danube. Hyundai/KIA has developed into the biggest non-German client of BLG Automobile Logistics.

The BLG Automobile Logistics Division recorded significant growth again in 2012. The number of vehicles moved within the terminal and transport network grew from 6.5 million (2011) to over seven million. The largest location in the terminal network and at the same time the biggest car port in Europe is Bremerhaven, which handled 2.15 million vehicles last year.
